Shawn M. Howell, MD, FACC

“I make each patient feel as though he or she is my only patient. I explain my patient’s medical conditions and answer all questions in a way they can understand. Effective communication ensures my patient’s success with their treatment plan.”

She is currently an attending physician at The George Washington Hospital.  She also has privileges at Medstar Washington Hospital Center, Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland and Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland.

When it comes to her patients, Dr. Howell chooses an educational approach. She wants her patients to fully understand their disease before they leave her office. She is active in community outreach programs and educates people about the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Howell has been treating patients in the DC metro area since 2005. Dr. Howell is married. Her husband, Roderick Holloman is an attorney and founder of The Holloman Law Group. They have one child, Mufasa, a feisty, spoiled-rotten 15 year old Australian Silky Terrier.  Mufasa has been with them since he was 3 months old and he is her heart!  Dr. Howell is an avid cyclist who loves warm weather and traveling to the Caribbean.  The artistic side of Dr. Howell loves interior design and she has completed several projects that she is particularly proud of!  She also enjoys wine, specifically, South African and New Zealand wines. Becoming a sommelier is on her "to do" list".
